January 1926

Mrs. Elizabeth Schwearer, dies at home on North Thoman Street on the eve of her 83rd Birthday.

Wm. Shumaker, brother of Samuel Shumaker of this city dies in Galion, Ohio

George Christman, brother of Charles and John Christman of this city dies at his home in Galion, Ohio aged 65 years.

Mrs. Wayne Morris, of Clink Blvd, dies in Crestline Emergency Hospital, aged 32 years.

Mrs. Lovina Arman, aged 77 years, dies at her home on Livingston Ave.

Mrs Wm Ray, native of Crestline, dies at her home in Galion, aged 81 years.

Richard Cover, resident of Crestline for many years and former Foreman of the Pennsylvania Roundhouse, dies at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. G. Burgett, in Mansfield, aged 79 years. Father of Mrs. J. G.Reed and brothers Jos, Cover of this city.

Robert Cotner, 28, former Crestline young man dies in Fariview Hospital Cleveland, Ohio from scarlet fever contracted a few days after he was severely
scalded. Burial is held in Crestline the following day.

Loren Derr, 21, son of Mr. And Mrs. George Derr, the latter a former resident of Crestline dies in Chicago. Remains are brought back here the following Friday and taken to Galion for burial.

Mrs. Emil Martin, aged 30 years, dies at the home of her parents, Mr. And Mrs. G.H. Turpin, on Wiley Street. Mr. Martin is critically ill at his parents home West of Bucyrus .

Joseph Heffner, aged 58, dies at home on South Seltzer Street.

 

February 1926

Mrs. Margaret Keller aged 92, dies at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. John Blaising, corner of West Bucyrus and Thoman Street.

Arza Hamlin, 69, said to be the oldest conductor on the Eastern Division of the Pennsylvania, dies from injuries received in the Pitcairn yards, having taken his run from Crestline to that place.

Wayne Morris, 36, is killed by monoxide fas in the garage at his home on Clink Blvd.

Carl Fred Seith, aged 75 years, dies at his home on Henry Street.

 

Mrs. Richard Finnegan, aged 73, Mother of Thomas Finnegan and Mrs. Bert Horning of this city dies at her home in Shelby Settlement.

March 1926

Mrs. Robert Robbins, sister of Mrs. C.I. Peaslee of this city dies in Cleveland.
H. Z. Wolford. Aged 73 years does at his home on West Bucyrus Street.

A.J.Borden, father of F.L. Borden, well know here dies at his home in Ada in his 80th year.

Mrs. Ellen New, Mother of Mrs. L. Levy of this city dies at her home in Cleveland aged 87 years.

William Freeze, resident of Crestline for many years and father of Ben Smith, dies in Detroit aged 62,

Mrs. Melvin Weelock of Cleveland, formerly Miss Angie Hershey of Crestline dies in Phoenix Arizona.

Mrs. C.H. Bennet, cousin of the late President Harding does at her home on Columbus Street, at the age of 75 years.

Frank Weaver, aged 27 years former Crestline Resident dies in Fr. Wayne and wife is in a hospital in that city recovering from injuries received in an automobile
accident. Deceased was a brother of Germaine Weaver of this city.

Mrs. Susan Jane Duffner, 74, mother of Clarence Duffner of this city, dies at her home in Ontario.

Phillip cc. Huberm aged 70 years dies at his home north of Crestline,
Samuel Peppard, 47, son of Mrs, Maria A. Peppard of this city dies in Toledo, Funeral here March 10th.

Frank E. Wilmore, assistant road foreman of engines of the Pennsylvania with headquarters in Crestline, dies at his home in Mansfield, aged 54, years.
Richard Cole, three year old son of Mr. And Mrs. Gilbert Cole, dies at home northwest of Crestline.

J.F. Zehner, brother of Mrs. Emma Englsh, dies in Chicago aged 55 years.
Mrs. Henry Miller, aged 71, dies at her home on Wood Street.

George Van Stein, of Cleveland here to attend the funeral of his brother in law. Phillip Huber, dies week later at the home of his sister, Mrs. Huber, north of Crestline.

Mrs. Fred Newman, aged 81, dies at her home in the Newman Block.
George Senn, aged 40 years, father of Henry Senn of this city dies in Galion, Funeral March 27.

Mrs. Amelia Leppert, aged 75 years, dies at home of her son, Joseph Leppert, on North Thoman Street.

Theodore Douse, aged 20, former Crestline boy, dies at home in Canton.
William H. Sheldon, aged 75yrs, father of Mrs. Will Swert of this city does at Biddle.

April 1926

James H. Penisnger , aged 51 years dies at his home on East Bucyrus Street.
Mrs. Elizabeth Smith, Mother of Frank and Leroy Smith of this city dies at her home in Galion. Aged 75 years.

Gust Kaupp, former resident of Shelby Settlement, and brother of Mrs. Wm Albright and Mrs Alex Gerster dies at home near new Dayton, Alberta Canada.
Aged 61.

Martin N. Bennett, of Cleveland, brother in law of C.H. Bennett of this city, dies in that city. The following day, April 19, William V. Dickman, brother in law of Mr. Bennet and and brother of Mrs. George Reed of this city, dies at his home near Blooming Grove, Ohio (Bloomingrove?)

Joseph Bell, Aged 83 yrs. Civil War veteran dies at the home of his daughter , Mrs. Emil Greter, on West Main Street.

John McMahon, brother of Thomas McMahon of this city, dies in Shelby.

Mrs. John Cook, dies at home on North Railroad Avenue aged 81 years.

Mrs. Mary Oehler, aged 58 yrs, dies at her home on North Thoman Street.

A home which Death had not visited for more than fifty years is doubly stricken within a week. Mrs Christian Strauch passing away at the age of 79 years. And Mr. Strauch following April 28, at the age of 84 years.

Phillip Trick, aged 73 years, dies at his home on North Seltzer Street.
Magdalena Hoffam, Mother of Ralph Hoffman and Mrs. Ralph Fortney, and sister of Mrs. Daniel Hagg and Mrs. Jacob Minich dies at her home in Leesville,
aged 74.

Mrs. Margaret McKinley, 84 mother of Mrs. I.G. Foster and well known here dies in Galion.

Joseph Shank Civil War Veteran dies ant his home on Columbus Street, Aged 84 years.

 

May 1926

Joseph Ims, pioneer Crestline Merchant , dies at his home on west Bucyrus Street.

Mrs. Geraldine Peaslee, aged 24, dies in Los Angeles, California, Funeral here May 12.

Mrs. Sarah J. Lovett, who resided most of her life just east of Crestline, dies at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.H. Morton in Fostoria. Funeral here May 10.

Mrs. Mary Heckler, mother of Mrs. Henry Voegele, of Southeast of Crestline, dies at home in Henry County, Burial in Crestline Cemetery May 11.

 

 

Jacob Huber, residing three miles northwest of Crestline, dies in Grant Hospital, Columbus Ohio, aged 65 years.

Wayne R. Hillis, aged 8 months,dies at the home of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. James A. Hillis, northwest of Crestline.

Mrs. Laura Werner, mother of Harry Werner of this city, dies at her home in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Solomon McKinney, former Crestline resident, dies at his home, four miles south of Shelby, aged 73 years.

Mrs. Jonas L. Bair, a resident of Crestline for many years, dies at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank L. Strauss in Orville, aged 80 years.

Mrs. Anna M.Mills aged 84, former superintendent of Crestline Schools, dies at the home of her sister, Mrs. J.M. Black in Bucyrus.

Melvin Edward, infant son of Mr & Mrs Elmer Poffenbaugh, dies at home on park road.

June 1926

L.E. D. Henthorne, aged 50, former Crestline resident and son of Mrs. Lucy Cover, of this city, dies at his home in Decatur, Ga. Funeral here June 4.

George Dangler . His daughter Mrs. Agnes Moffet, and her son, Leonard of St. James Michigan are killed when a Big Four train his their car at Wellington while they are enroute to Shelby Settlement to attend the funeral of Christian Kempf. Mr. Dangler was the only brother of Mrs. Kempf. Triple funeral is held in Sacred Heart Church following Sunday afternoon.

Etta Marie, six year old daughter of Mr. And Mrs. C.O. Speelman, dies at her home in Pearl Street.

Rosemary Meyer, daughter of Mr and Mrs AA Mayer of Cleveland, dies at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Anna Henry, with whom she resided, at the age of 5 years.

Charles Boals, brother of Mrs. Catherine Channel , dies at his home Southeast of Shelby.

F.W. Neese, of Renfrew, Pennsylvania, well known Pennsylvania Brakeman, is killed in Milbrook. Had Layover in Cresltine.

Mrs. W. H. Zink, formerly of Crestline, dies at home in Rochester, Pennsylvania at the age of 59. Funeral here June 25.

Mrs. Daniel Guiss, mother of William Guiss, of Crestline,dies at her home in New Washington, aged 81.

John Fisher, who formerly lived one mile East of Crestline, dies in the county infirmary, aged 58 years.

Mrs. William Van Norman, former Crestline Resident , dies in Coshocton, burial here November 4.

Mrs. Youngblood, Aged 51, former resident of Crestline,dies in Galion Hospital.

Mrs. G.W. Metz, aged 68 yrs. Dies at home in West Livingston Street.

Mrs. Fred Held, Sister of Mrs. Frank Frost of Crestline, dies at her home in New
York City.

Finley Iiams, brother of Calvin Iiams of Crestline, is killed at Monnette grain elevator when his clothes catch on the shaft. Was 28 yrs old.

Frank Hudson, of near Rittman is instantly killed and Mrs. Hudson is fatally njured when the car in which they are riding hits concrete bridge on Lincoln Highway just West of Crestline.

Remains of Mrs. Wayne Stair who died at her home n FT. Wayne November 5. Body brought here to Crestline for interment.

$30, 000 damage suit brought by Mrs. Frances Myers, of Crestline against the Big Four for injuries claimed to be suffered in accident at Vernon Junction, October 10, 1925 , is settled at litigation starts. William E. Myers, husband of Plaintive and their five year old daughter were killed when their car was struck by a Big Four freight train.

C.A. Bowman, 33, Dodge car salesman, of Galion, meets almost instant deat when his car is struck by a Southwestern freight train on East Street Crossing. Is third wreck victim in 5 days.

Mrs. Frank Kibler, aged 57, sister of Martin Dapper and Mrs. Francis Shearer, of near Crestline dies at new McKinley Hospital in Columbus.

Carl Meinzer, aged 35, conductor in Pennsylvania yards, is killed by accidental discharge of companions gun on opening day of hunting season.

Joseph Walter, resident of Crawford County, almost a century, dies at the home of his daughter, Mrs. David Rader, five and a half miles southeast of Crestline, aged almost 94 years.

Frederick E. Poister, brother of Mrs. M. Schmidt of this city dies at his home in Ellwood, Pennsylvania, aged 70 years.

Joseph Burch, native of this community, dies at his home in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, aged 64 yrs. Funeral services are held here November 22.
Elizabeth Flick, Mother of William Flick of this city dies at the home of her son, Clyde Flick, Galion, aged 79 years.

Charles Smith, colored, aged 50, dies suddenly in room on South Seltzer Street.
Mrs. Zada Epley, aged 65, dies at her home along South Big Four Railway.

Anthony Gwirtz, aged 67years, dies at home in Shelby Settlement.

William N. Todd, long a resident pf Crestline and father of Miss Bessie Todd, dies at home of sister in West Alexander, Pennsylvania, aged 90 years.

Mrs. Sarah E. Gardner, aged 69 years, dies at her home on Columbus Street.
Frank E. Snyder, well known Crestline Painter, dies at his home on South Columbus Street.

Body of John Stella, Local Italian is found along Patterson Street, bearing numerous knife wounds proving a brutal murder.

Mrs. Mildred Smith, aged 21 years dies at her home on North Seltzer Street.

Mrs. Magdalena Ernest, aged 61 years, Mother of Mrs. John Berger of Crestline, dies at her home in Mansfield.

William Parsel, grandfather of J.L. Parsel of Cresline, dies in Plymouth after reaching the age of 102 yrs.

Crestline relatives receive word of the death of Louis Holcker of Kansas City, Missouri. He as long a resident of Crestline and a brother of Jacob Holcker and Mrs. Mary Zimmerman..

Committal Services for Pfc. Robert Rayel of Crestline at Arlington Cemetery in Virginia, Pfc.was killed December16, 1944 at the Battle of the Bulge.
